"Refreshing” is one of the most common words used to describe alternative/hard rock quartet, Rye and Silence. Rye and Silence have simplified the formula for success. They write great songs and they play their balls off. With Grunge, Punk, Rock and Blues backgrounds, each member has brought something special to the table which has created a unique sound. The response from the Indie scene has been unbelievable. Discontent with the trend towards cookie-cut artists and soulless computer generated music, Rye and Silence seeks to produce high energy music that is stripped down to the bone; however, they never feel like a backwards-looking band. They deliver songs with inspired lyrics, catchy guitar riffs, and a memorable chorus. One fan states “This band, that sound, is exactly why I fell in love with music.” The band formed when guitarists Ryan Gabourie and Pete Goyer decided to jam together. The two began to create impressive original music, and realized that with the addition of the right drummer and bassist, they might really be onto something. Peter immediately thought of Derek Rosebush as the man to fill the drummer spot and when Kyle Brodie responded to an ad for a bassist on the internet, the line-up was completed. Just a year into their music quest, Rye and Silence have created an army of loyal fans and have rocked out in some of Canada's most famous venues including  Lee's Palace, The Velvet Underground and The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern. Their songs have been enjoyed by thousands on both college and commercial radio and they have played with some of Canada's biggest bands such as The Trews.
